Saint Mary's University Atrium Halifax, NS
This two-phase project started with the renovation and addition to the University’s existing five storey Science Building; a 22,500sf addition enlarged the building to a total of 93,000sf and accommodates the applied Science Faculty Departments
of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and Geology. Phase two involved the construction of the Atrium - a three storey, 43,000 sf building which joins the Science Building, Patrick Power Library and Burke Buildings. It features a main floor Global Learning Commons, communal learning space for faculty, students and staff, and will provide opportunity for community engagement. The second and third floors house teaching and study space along with offices and computational science research labs. The Atrium includes an interior bio-wall and green roof. The projected received CaGBC's LEED Silver designation in 2012.
