Treitz Haus Moncton, NB
The Treitz Haus, built by Jacob Treitz Sr. in 1771, is the oldest existing building in Moncton. Its uniqueness lies in its builder, a Pennsylvania Dutch settler using early Acadian construction technology. The preservation plans prepared by G.F. Duffus & Co. Ltd. (now part of DSRA) included detailed "as found" drawings and detailed structural analysis using three dimensional CAD drawings.
The building was required to be moved to a new site and the firm assisted with siting the building, as well as preparing contract documents for a new foundation with a barrier free accessible basement, stabilization of the building, a new fireplace and chimneys, siding and historic window and door replacement.
